Celebrate Earth Day Today and Beyond- Plant a Tree with LKQ and the Arbor Day Foundation
LKQ Corporation, the largest auto and truck recycler in the United States, is proud to celebrate Earth Day today and beyond. Through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, which has helped plant over 25 million trees in forests that have been damaged by fire, insects, and disease, one tree will be planted for each person registering their email address or participating in the LKQ Get Green promotion through www.LKQCorp.com. Through last year’s promotion, more than 10,050 trees were planted in the Pere Marquette State Forestin Michigan, enough to keep 720 people breathing for a year.
“We are really excited to be working with the Arbor Day Foundation again to address environmental concerns in our local communities,” said Laurie Garcia, VP Growth Initiatives & Marketing. “Recycling is a green business and this promotion will allow us to directly benefit the environment, to increase the positives as we continue to reduce the negatives through recycling.” Trees not only provide wood for our homes and wildlife, they purify our air and drinking water, reduce soil erosion, moderate temperature, and increase property values.
The LKQ Get Green instant win promotion, which launches on May 1, 2011, will give away hundreds of prizes. Visit www.LKQGetGreen.com between May 1 and May 28 register, and get a chance to win many different Apple® prizes including Shuffles™, iPads™ , Sony® cameras, gas gift cards, and more. LKQ will match each registrant with a tree planted through the Arbor Day Foundation in Florida’s Belmore State Forest.
